Background

The Occupational Safety and Health Committee (DOSH) under the Ministry of Human Resources is the highest body responsible for determining the direction and policy of the State in relation to occupational safety and health in Malaysia. It was established in 1995 in accordance with the requirements of Section 8, Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514).

The main objective of the establishment of DOSH is the Government's continuous efforts to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of workers in the workplace are guaranteed. In this regard, DOSH is maturing and always strives to improve the level of occupational safety and health in making safe and healthy work practices part of the culture of Malaysians. This effort is based on the process of tripartism towards cultivating the practice.

Therefore, on the initiative of PSAS, the PSAS Occupational Safety and Health Unit (UKKP) was established in 2016 as the PSAS Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JKKP) and was upgraded to a unit in 2021. This unit is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the environment in PSAS is safe. and free from hazards that could affect the safety and health of PSAS citizens. Led by Encik Arman bin Ahmad Sapawi as the Deputy Director of Academic Support and driven by Puan Noormala binti Abdullah as the Head of Unit, and Encik Azar bin Shabudin as the Secretary. UKKP PSAS consists of 26 committees consisting of staff from various departments and units.
