Background

PSAS Quality Assurance & Accreditation Centre (PJKA) has been established to plan, coordinate, implement, regulate and monitor the processes of PSAS quality management. Apart from the Head of PJKA, the unit is supported by a Quality Management Officer, the quality secretariat and quality officers of the academic departments and support units in implementing the continuous process of quality development and culture inculcation.

 

Function / Role:

PJKA plays a role in the following matters:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement, regulate and monitor the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with the requirements of standards, quality documents and regulations in force.
  • Monitor and identify areas and opportunities for continuous improvements in the implementation of QMS at committee, process owner, department and unit levels.

PSAS is determined to provide educational and training services in technical and vocational fields through the implementation of a quality management system that is continuously enhanced in its effectiveness to produce holistic, entrepreneurial and balanced human capital in line with national employment needs.

MS ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System

ISO 9000 is a written standard that sets and explains the basic requirements that must be in the quality management system to ensure that the services provided by an organisation can meet the needs of customers.

Quality Management System is a planned work system where processes are controlled to produce consistent quality services.

The scope of PSAS QMS is the provision of educational services at the diploma and bachelor's degree levels in the field of engineering and commerce.

 

Polytechnic Project Management Office (PolyPMO)

PolyPMO is a system developed to monitor the achievements of each Polytechnic in achieving the KPIs set based on the Polytechnic Transformation Plan and the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2015-2025 (Higher Education).

Each year a review of uniformity will be conducted by a committee to evaluate the achievement of the KPIs. There are FOURTEEN (14) Key Strategic Objectives (SO) namely:

  • Produce graduates with high employability
  • Improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Develop global TVET graduates
  • Empower 4IR-driven institutions
  • Strengthen efficient, prudent and sustainable financial management
  • Produce effective employees through comprehensive long-term talent development programmes

  • Improve the effectiveness of delivery mechanisms
  • Expand access
  • Obtain recognition and/ or accreditation
  • Strengthen the industry-TVET institution network

  • Strengthen relationships with alumni
  • Sustain the research and innovation ecosystem

PSAS which is in the category of Premier Polytechnics & APACC needs to achieve 10 KPIs set. In the 2020 assessment, PSAS has managed to obtain 100% in the KPI achievement.
